The Miami DDA offers its 2016 Demographics update. The Miami DDA now estimates that there are 88,540 residents in Greater Downtown Miami; the local population should surpass 100,000 by 2021. The report also touches on population distribution, household growth, housing, income, expenditures, migration, pets, and exercise.

Miami DDA contracted with the Metropolitan Center (FIU/MC), a think-tank within Florida International University, to complete a report examining employment in Downtown Miami. The report includes three main sections, focusing on Business Characteristics, Worker Characteristics and Attitudinal Survey Data.

New Miami DDA report projects downtown will welcome 1.4 million square feet of retail space over the next 3 years -- marking a 22% increase in leasable retail -- as current retail sales hit $500 per square foot and the surging population growth drives demand.
