Miami’s latest attraction and YES, they are open!
Just like that, the long-awaited Skyviews Miami Observation Wheel celebrated its grand opening on October 28, 2020. Towering almost 200 feet above Bayside Marketplace, Skyviews Miami offers unparalleled views of Biscayne Bay, Bayfront Park, and the iconic Downtown Miami skyline. There are 42 completely enclosed and climate-controlled Gondolas, including one VIP Gondola featuring leather bucket seats, a custom LED light show, and a glass bottom floor. Skyviews Miami will eventually be open 365 days a year and it’s always 72 degrees inside your private Gondola.
Each ride is approx. 15 mins and special event rides can last up till 45 mins.
The privately funded $18,000,000 attraction brings 70 new jobs, and the city gets a cut of ticket revenues. Bringing the wheel to the downtown skyline was a lengthy process because city zoning for a Ferris wheel didn’t exist.
Skyviews Miami also had to figure out how to open during a pandemic, with masks required and sanitizing stations throughout. Officials also said the gondolas will be wiped down between each use.
South Florida residents and visitors alike can now get a whole new view of Downtown Miami.
Bayside is back, and Bayside is open.
